Adjourn Companion
You are my true friend,
A companion, and so much more.
But my friend, our castes are miles apart,
Although our hearts are bonded together by one god.
People say we can’t be friends,
But you are my true friend.
A person whom I can confide,
Be honest, and loyal.
Is it my fault that my grandfather was a priest,
And yours was servant?
But they refuse to listen and,
Say our friendship is unacceptable.
They judge us based on our caste,
our past.
And not from our hearts,
They don’t want to accept.
We can’t allow this to part us,
Because you are my true friend.
Our friendship is stronger than any other bond,
Than any caste.
I have decided.
To do the right thing.
Ignore what they say,
And be your true friend.
A companion, and so much more.
But my friend, our castes are miles apart,
Although our hearts are bonded together by one god.
